St Moritz is one of the original ski resorts in the Alps. It has developed a reputation as one of the top all-round winter sport destinations, as well as for serious glitz and glamour. The resort boasts an extraordinarily photogenic lakeside setting in the sunny Upper Engadin.
The lake has an integral role in the make up of the resort, dividing St Moritz Dorf and St Moritz Bad. The exclusive village of Dorf is where you’ll find the best restaurants, boutiques like Roberto Cavalli and Louis Vuitton and the most sumptuous hotels. Bad is quieter and retains the atmosphere of a traditional spa town. Some (heated) hotel pools overlook the lake, which is definitely our preferred way to wind down after a day on the slopes. Speak to our ski specialists for recommendations on where to stay.
St Moritz has three main ski areas, extending over 350km with most terrain suited to intermediate level skiers. In St Moritz style you can take a helicopter to the slope summits rather than wait for a ski lift – definitely one of our favourite features!
During winter the lake is used for all sorts of eccentric activities including horse and greyhound racing, show jumping, polo, golf and even cricket. The Upper Engadin region is also superb for walking and cross-country skiing.
St Moritz is the premier resort for winter activities, its chic atmosphere, contemporary designs and gourmet-dining scene add a dash of glamour to this scenic Alpine retreat.
