In the small town of Praiano, between Amalfi and Positano, the Casa Angelina hotel was one of the first real design hotels to open along the Amalfi coast.

The hotel’s sleek, modern exterior is mirrored by its décor inside; white is very much the dominant colour throughout, with contemporary paintings, sculptures and Murano glass pieces softening the crisp minimalist vibe.

Casa Angelina has 43 rooms and suites in two buildings, many with terraces overlooking the sea. In addition, self-catering options are provided four converted fishermen’s cottages at the beach below the hotel.

On the hotel’s top floor, and accessed by an exterior lift, the restaurant at Casa Angelina is called Un Piano Nel Cielo, meaning ‘a floor in the sky’. As you’d expect, the views from here across to Capri are sensational, both from the terrace and through the restaurant’s huge windows.

The Marrakech Bar specialises in mojitos and has a cliff-edge terrace. Alternatively, take your drink on the outdoor pool’s sundeck, where snacks and light meals are also served. The hotel also has an indoor hydrotherapy pool.

La Gavitella beach, directly below Casa Angelina, faces west, which is unusual for the Amalfi coast, and means that its restaurant and bar still bask in the evening sunshine long after others are in the shade.

Casa Angelina does feel like a hotel for adults, but children (under 10) are welcome, in low season only.

Lightfoot Travel provides tailor-made itineraries that include daily tours and excursions, restaurant recommendations and bookings, and can incorporate the Amalfi Coast into a greater Italian or European holiday. Casa Angelina Testimonials

Great job!! We had a wonderful time and the sunset cruise was really special and such a surprise!! Thank you Nico and Simon!!!!!

Belmond Caruso was really special. Very authentic, classy, unbelievable food and views but the service was what set it apart from anything else. Truly a great experience. I would stay there again. It didn’t feel touristy and I loved Ravello and the quaint town.

Casa Angelina is a different beast. Amazing views, good food, great location if you want to rent a boat, which we did and a very modern fresh vibe. It isn’t as classical or as authentic Italian as Caruso as is a different caliber of hotel. You definitely feel the tourism more being nearer Positano and the clientele are of a different class. Caruso is Italian and classy European and Angelina is USA and Oz.

All-in-all a fantastic week.
