Huntingdon House

Malawi

Located on the Satemwa Tea Estate in southern Malawi, Huntingdon House is a luxury lodge surrounded by rambling gardens. Built by the plantation founder, Maclean Kay, in the mid 1930s, it offers a home-from-home atmosphere and an insight to life on a working tea and coffee plantation.

There are five guest suites with beds draped in mosquito netting, a comfortable lounge, and en suites with clawfoot bathtubs and separate showers. Some rooms include a private patio, and there’s a self-catering cottage, which accommodates up to 10 people and has a private pool.

Menus are based around locally sourced produce with vegetables grown in the organic gardens. Afternoon tea is a delight with tea and coffee from the estate and freshly baked cakes and scones. The tea and coffee-based cocktails are great fun.

Guests can tour the plantations and sip a selection of special brews. There’s also a swimming pool and lawn games.
