Franschhoek, South Africa
Less than a one hour drive from Cape Town, set within the Franschhoek Valley in South Africa’s Western Cape, Grande Provence Heritage Wine Estate is 300 years old and set within a 47 acres of land.
Accommodation in The Owner’s Cottage or La Provencale is gloriously luxurious. Blanketed in a palette of charcoal grey and white linen, the rooms come with all sophisticated modern amenities and a luxurious feeling of grandeur.
The restaurant is framed by mountains and the stunning sculpture garden. High-backed chairs, crisp white linen and gleaming glasses await. The food is exquisite; stand out dishes include the chef’s sous-vide quail, the ocean risotto and – for dessert – melt-in-the-mouth mousse and honey bavarois. All are best washed down with delectable wines, of course.
Lush lawns edged with dark green hedges surround the deck chairs, lounging areas and swimming pool. Guests can also take a walk around the premises, simply relax, or visit the winery for a tasting experience.
