Day 2: Kathmandu to Pokhara
After a sumptuous buffet breakfast at Dwarikas, you will take a 25-minute morning flight to Pokhara. On a clear day you can watch the Annapurna Ranges unfold before you from the aeroplane. Upon arrival at Pokhara airport you will be met by a Tiger Mountain Pokhara representative and transferred to the lodge (approximately 30minutes drive).
The award winning Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge is situated on a spectacular hilltop ridge a thousand feet above the Pokhara Valley. The Lodge is renowned for panoramic views of Machhapuchhare and three of the world’s fourteen 8,000m peaks, Dhaulagiri, Annapurna I and Manaslu. The nineteen elegant and spacious rooms are arranged around the hilltop in thirteen individual hand cut stone bungalows, blending naturally into their surroundings. Sited to maximize the breathtaking vistas and set in private gardens, each room has a private verandah, adjoining bathroom and is furnished with twin or super-king sized beds. Features include wooden or slate floors, Tibetan wool carpets and watercolours of the region by the British artist, Luke Piper.
The afternoon can be spent relaxing at Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge or getting out on one of the many short hikes accessible right from your front door. Sunset drinks on the large open terrace are a great way to unwind and take in the breathtaking beauty of the Annapurnas.
Days 3 - 4: Annapurna and Pokhara
Days three to four are your opportunity to explore the Annapurna Mountains and surrounding sites of Pokhara. Lakeside offers a more relaxed dining and shopping experience compared with the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu.
Activities available from the Lodge include:

- Short hikes and naturalist-guided nature and bird watching walks
- Ayurvedic or Shiatsu massage, yoga and meditation in theprivacy of your room or on your verandah.

After breakfast begin the journey to Tiger Tops Tharu Lodge, approximately a six-hour drive. However, there is plenty to see as you pass through towns and villages to the endless rice fields of the Terai Plains.
Tiger Tops Tharu Lodge is situated on high ground overlooking lush community forest. The lodge is styled after the traditional longhouses of the local Tharu people. Set in a tranquil garden and with all modern facilities, the lodge is the perfect base for both wildlife and cultural exploration, or just to relax.
Keen bird watchers will have a field day escorted by the lodge’s skilled naturalists. Identify different species of grassland, farmland forest and aquatic birds abundant in the Terai. After a day of travel, settle down to a delicious Nepali feast in the GholGhar (dining hall) before nodding off to sleep to the sounds of the jungle.
Day 6-7: Rural Nepal Exploration & Wildlife Encounters
Days six and seven are an opportunity to explore life in rural Nepal. The most treasured experience of all Tiger Tops guests is our special elephant encounters – Elephant Encounters Spend a day with the mahouts, elephant keepers, and watch daily life at the elephant camp unfold. Help prepare the 150kilograms of feed each elephant requires each day, head down to the river to watch the elephant bathing, and take an afternoon stroll with one of these humble gentle giants through the villages and community forest. These intimate, once in a life time experiences will give you a deeper connection to the jungles of Nepal. In addition to the elephant encounters, activities also include:
- Guided walks to explore the surrounding villages and countryside
- Guided bird watching trip, including a visit to the Vulture Restaurant
- A tour of the Lodge’s organic farm and recycling systems
- Bullock cart tours
- Boating trip down the Narayani River for sunset
- A visit to the Tiger Tops Swiss Air School that offers free education to local Tharu children
Rhino, sloth bear and leopard are often seen in the forest and scrubland around the lodge. Civet cats and other smaller mammals are regularly sighted in the lodge gardens and fruit trees.
