North Pole Icebreaker Cruise

Reaching the North & South Poles is at the pinnacle of Polar exploration, cruise through the Arctic pack ice on board the world’s largest and most powerful nuclear icebreaker.The 50 Years of Victory, a ship unlike any other, is capable of crushing through ice up to 2.5 metres thick and reaching areas other ships simply cannot.

As adventurous expeditions go this 14 day Arctic cruise to 90°N is up there with the best on earth; one of helicopter shore excursions, wildlife viewing, an optional hot air balloon ride and setting foot at the North Pole itself. Once in the high Russian Arctic, expect to land at the remote uninhabited archipelago of Franz Josef Land to admire the towering rock formations, vast glaciers and fauna including walrus, polar bears and Arctic seabirds. A unique experience given so few people have or ever will set foot at the most northerly point on earth, seize the opportunity to be one of the last to travel aboard such a unique ship.


Day 1: Arrival

Upon arrival into Helsinki, you will be transferred to your hotel, where a representative will greet you.

The rest of the day is at leisure for you to discover the Finnish capital.

Day 2: Helsinki – Murmansk

Today, you will board a chartered plane for your 2 hour flight to Murmansk. Once you arrive in Murmansk, you will embark on the 50 years of Victory, the most powerful icebreaker in the world. Your journey to the North Pole starts now!

Day 3: The Barents Sea

In order to have a pleasant and safe journey to the North Pole, you will be introduced to the safety instructions to ensure your protection aboard the 50 Years of Victory and during the expedition.

A tour of the engine room as well as learning more about the ships unique icebreaking capabilities is on the agenda of the day as well.

Day 4 - 6: Voyage to the North Pole

During the journey to the North Pole, you will not lack astounding views of the astonishing Arctic landscape.

You will also have the opportunity for off-deck adventures as you experience helicopter rides over the icebreaker (weather permitting) or walk on the ice pack.

Day 7: The North Pole

Wait in anticipation as the 50 Years of Victory maneuvers into position at exactly 90 degree N. Welcome to the North Pole!

Disembark from the ship and experience the thrilling moment of standing on the top of the world. A special International Round Dance will be organized with all passengers to celebrate this once-in-a-lifetime moment.

In the evening, enjoy a North Pole BBQ and if you are feeling particularly daring, a dip in the Arctic Ocean.

Day 8 – 10: Touring the islands of the Russian Arctic

During these 3 days of touring, enjoy 24 hours daylight to truly explore the unique landscape in front of you.

Weather permitting, you will explore the Franz Josef Land archipelago, which consists of 190 islands reminiscent of moon craters and its mysterious round boulders, also home to Arctic wildlife (polar bears, walruses etc.).

Helicopter rides will also be available

Days 11 - 13: The Barents Sea

On your journey back to Murmansk, continue to admire the incredible landscape before you. If you had not had the chance, make the most of the vessels facilities and play a game of volleyball on deck or have a massage.

Upon arrival into Murmansk, you will fly back to Helsinki

Day 14: Departure

Following breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your return flight.
