Billed as the St Tropez of Brazil, Buzios is only a three hour drive along the coast east of Rio de Janeiro making it an easy destination to combine as part of a short city & beach break or to unwind after an extensive trip around Brazil.

Set on a peninsula made up of some 26 beaches, Buzios was once a sleepy fishing village before it was discovered by Brigitte Bardot in the 1960s, now a popular resort with luxury boutique hotels and some incredible private villas we can suggest.

Buzios has a beach to suit every taste whether seeking the best surf breaks, calm waters for the family or a spot at one of the cool beach bar lounges for a livelier day on the beach. There is a whole host of activities on offer from sailing and surfing to scuba diving and fishing, plus it is worth renting a car or buggy to visit the more remote and quieter beaches.  By night wander the cobbled streets of the Rua das Pedras to browse the chic boutiques and sample any one of the excellent restaurants and bars.

Lightfoot Travel creates tailor-made itineraries to Buzios and throughout Brazil. Our travel designers have explored the region, sampled the activities, and stayed at the properties we use. So when we make a recommendation, you can trust that it’s based on firsthand experience.
