This is a unique, luxury, classic and stunning trip of a lifetime which I have always wanted to do.  Starting in Venice and travelling through Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Lichtenstein and France in luxury on the most iconic train in the world just seems like the perfect weekend to me.

It’s a dream destination as it’s so isolated and just looks absolutely stunning and untouched, with such incredible marine life and nature.

 

Horseback Riding In Botswana

Botswana is a country I have always wanted to visit. Riding across the mighty Okavango Delta, being so close to nature and seeing it all on horseback is something I’ve always dreamed of doing and I’m lucky enough to be hosting a horseback riding safari with Belmond this September 2018.  It will truly be a magical and unique trip of a lifetime. I can’t wait!

What’s been your favourite holiday so far? 

I had an incredible week at Soneva Fushi in the Maldives, not least for the crystal-clear ocean and best swimming in the world and the luxury surroundings, but I loved the whole ethos of Soneva. It was a huge inspiration for how I now run my pub, The Half Moon in West Sussex, England. They focused on sustainability, being ethically spot on, and supporting the fragile ecosystems on the islands and atolls in such a creative and beautiful way.

 

What’s been your worst holiday so far? 

It was when I was in Mexico City. There was a huge thunderstorm and the hotel roof fell in on my bed!

 

What was the first flight that you took and where did you go? 

It was to Barbados when I was three months old. We were going to my family home on the island.

 

How much research do you do on a destination before you go? 

The older I get the more research I am doing – I want to explore, get under the skin of the destination, and get the most out of my trip.

 

What’s your one tip travelling with kids? 

Be prepared and basically be a one-stop children’s pharmacy – pack for all eventualities!  Plasters, anti-histamines, insect repellent etc

 

What’s been the best meal that you had on vacation?

I had the best Indian meal ever at Simply India restaurant at The St Regis Mauritius Resort. I was very fortunate to go into the kitchen where the chef taught me how to cook Murgh Mari chicken, which is delicious!

 

What’s been your best holiday souvenir? 

For a foodie like me it has to be all the special treats I picked up from Tuscany – Parmesan, truffles and 25-year-old balsamic vinegar.
