Amandayan marks the group’s third property in China. Located in Lijiang, a fabled city in China’s Yunnan Province, it is often compared to the mythical Shangri-La and is one of the country’s most beautiful regions. The Old Town had listed as World Heritage Site since 1997.
Amandayan is located on top of Lion Hill and boasts panoramic views over Lijiang and its mountain ranges. ‘Dayan’ is Lijiang’s historic name, dating back to the 13th century. The design of the property draws its inspirations from the traditional architectural style of the Nakhi which are the indigenous people of this region in Yunnan.
Each of the 35 suites are housed in a series of dwellings which boast superb views of the area as well as their very own private courtyards.
Amandayan is home to a Chinese restaurant, Man Yu Xuan, which serves Yunnan and Cantonese cuisine, whilst The Lounge serves a mix of Western and Asian cuisine and has a focus on seasonal produce. Tea is an institution in China and the hotel offers its very own Tea House, which spans two floors with indoor and outdoor dining and overlooks Lijiang Old Town.
After a day of hiking through the region, or meeting the ethnic minorities in the region, enjoy a massage in one of the six double treatment rooms at the Aman Spa. The extensive spa menu offers treatments based on Traditional Chinese Medicine and uses Aman’s Spa own range of chemical-free skincare products.
Lightfoot Travel provides tailor-made itineraries that include daily tours and excursions, restaurant recommendations and bookings, and can incorporate Lijiang into a greater China holiday.
