Shy Perez-Sala

Travel Consultant - Lightfoot Collective

A travel designer since 2004, Shy Perez-Sala crafts privately guided, tailor-made trips for her clients located all around the world. She has personally visited 6 out of the 7 continents, saving Antarctica for a big milestone birthday celebration. But, her first love is Africa.  Shy has been on nearly 20 African Safaris, and counting. The Middle East is a very close second.  Shy loves learning about some of the world’s most authentic, road-less-travelled destinations, and meeting lovely locals along the way.  Eager to share all of her first-hand knowledge with her clients, Shy always hopes that this will open their mind and hearts to unique, enriching, and life changing personal experiences.

Shy Perez-Sala’s Picks

  • Hotel: Cellars-Hohenort Constantia, Cape Town, South Africa.  Breathtakingly beautiful hotel set within the midst of their private 9-acre garden, their own vineyard; an enchanted forest with the second oldest camphor trees in South Africa —  all facing the spectacular Table Mountain range.
  • City: Hong Kong, China.  I am so lucky to be living in my favorite city of all time. I may be surrounded by skyscrapers but within minutes I can hike up mountains and bask on beaches.  And, to me, no other city in the world can match Hong Kong’s high energy and extraordinary efficiency.
  • Landscape: Wadi Rum, Jordan.   Retracing Lawrence of Arabia's footsteps has never been more glamorous and fabulous!  Towering sandstone mountains; red sand dunes; petroglyphs from the ancient Nabateans; and Bedouin guides hosting you at one of their traditional tented camps or at an ultra-modern geodesic dome.  It’s also no wonder so many sci-fi movies have been filmed here from Dune to The Martian to Star Wars — the scenery is simply out of this world!
  • Road Trip: Iran.   What was once the heart of the powerful Persian Empire, Iran is now home to no less than 24 UNESCO World Heritage sites!  Our privately guided road trip from Tehran, Shiraz, Isfahan, Kashan, and Yazd, along the country’s modern highways took us through several of these sites, including some of the most scenic landscapes and gardens, magnificent ruins, bustling bazaars, and mosaic-filled mosques.  And, let’s not forget the delectable Persian cuisine which we happily indulged in along the way!
  • Restaurant: El Celler de Can Roca, Girona, Spain.  Definitely deserves  “Best of the Best of the World’s 50 Best” and their 5-hour long lunches are always worth it.   Girona is also one of the prettiest medieval towns that I’ve ever visited, especially their Old Town and Jewish Quarter.  While there, do pop by the Salvador Dali Museum in nearby Figueres.
