Porto and Northern Portugal, Portugal
Vidago Palace is situated an hour outside Porto in the North of Portugal. This historic landmark hotel was built in 1910 on a breathtakingly beautiful 250-acre estate. It reopened in 2012 after a major refurbishment, its eclectic style combining the splendor of an aristocratic house in the Belle Epoque with modern comforts. The craftsmanship is exquisite and stucco artwork, mosaic floors, wood panelling, silk wallpaper, objets d’art and Venetian-style chandeliers feature throughout. Facilities include an array of restaurants and bars, an magnificent thermal spa and a gym.
The hotel provides 80 elegantly appointed bedrooms and suites, featuring neoclassical interiors with king-size beds, wooden floors, handmade rugs and lavish bathrooms. Some rooms come with a terrace with a delightful view of the mountains.
There is an array of activities on offer. Bathe in the renowned mineral waters, play golf, indulge in fine cuisine or take a stroll through the enchanting grounds. For those wishing to explore, head to the Chaves hot springs, go on a Douro River Cruise, go on a wine tasting tour or visit the Port Wine Museum.
