Palazzo Avino

Amalfi Coast

Thanks to its superb location above the Mediterranean in the medieval town of Ravello, the Palazzo Avino has spectacular Amalfi views of the sea and fishing villages dotting the coastline.

The building owes its name to the prosperous Sasso family from Scala. The Sasso family settled in Ravello in about 1710 when Domenico Diego purchased the remains of the Palazzo Sasso from the noble Bonito family and subsequently restored it. Fully restored, it re-opened as Palazzo Sasso in July 1997 to continue its historic adventure. In 2013, Palazzo Sasso was renamed Palazzo Avino, finally bearing the name of its founding family.

Palazzo Avino has 33 rooms and 10 suites, looking out over either the sea or the mountains. Antique rugs and furniture sit alongside high-tech luxuries, and each room is decorated with hand-painted Vietri tiles. Suites have balconies or terraces overlooking the Mediterranean, and all rooms have large windows.

Recently, the hotel launched a Capsule Collection of seven rooms, designed by Cristina Celestino, former author of the blush-colored spaces of The Pink Closet. The interior design involves some of the most important rooms, including the Belvedere suite, with a terrace overlooking the sea and a private swimming pool. Between soft alcoves, colors that recall the sea and precious details, the rooms accentuate the idea of wunderkammers that solicit all the senses, to be enjoyed with the eyes and discovered with the hands, in a story made of materials, textures, and colors, between land and sea, classicism and orientalism, inside and outside. The concept is inspired by the wonders of the Italian gardens of Ravello and the odyssey of forgotten stories from the Tyrrhenian Se.

The hotel’s Rossellini's restaurant has been awarded one Michelin star. Light bites and pasta dishes are served at Terrazza Belvedere, which incorporates an evening Lobster & Martini Bar. For cocktails, aperitifs, and digestifs accompanied by live piano music, head for Caffé del Arte.

The Palazzo Avino has a heated outdoor swimming pool, spa, and rooftop solarium with a whirlpool. Fifteen minutes’ drive away from the hotel by complimentary shuttle is the Palazzo Avino’s ‘Clubhouse by the Sea’.
