Laikipia and Northern Kenya

Laragai House is an extravagant private country retreat located in Laikipia in Northern Kenya, on Borana Conservancy. Set in a rich and colorful garden, this luxury private house overlooks the conservancy which is home to nine endangered species of wildlife, including both black and white rhino.

With eight bedrooms, the house is ideal for a family gathering in the African bush. The interior of the house features luxurious carpets from Rajasthan and fabrics from London. The sitting room is ‘African Baronial’ with a thatched roof, a huge fireplace and animal paintings.

The Pool House has a bar, kitchen and bathroom and is ideal for long lunches while the alcoves around the pool provided shaded retreats for an afternoon siesta.

There is plenty of entertainment in the home, which has all modern amenities. The extensive games room can keep all ages entertained with table tennis, croquet and boules. From the sheltered area around the heated swimming pool, guests have a view across to Borana Ranch.

Location & Getting There

Laragai House is locate in Laikipia, Kenya. It's a four hour drive from Nairobi and a one hour drive from Nanyuki. Daily scheduled flights from Nairobi Wilson Domestic airport to Lewa Downs – a one hour drive from the house.

Accommodation

There are six double rooms and two children’s rooms. There is plenty of entertainment in the home, which has WiFi throughout. The extensive games room can keep the whole family entertained with table tennis, croquet and boules. From the sheltered area around the heated swimming pool guests have a view across to Borana Ranch. The Pool House has a bar, kitchen and bathroom and is the perfect place for long lunches while the alcoves around the pool provided shaded retreats for an afternoon siesta. There is also a clay tennis court with racquets and balls provided.

Horse riding, game drives, bush walks, working ranch visit, tennis, picnics, sundowners, massages, bush dinners, helicopter rides, visits to the Mokogodo Maasai villages

Weather

Expect warm days and cool nights with daytime temperatures between 24-28°C. Rains are to be expected in Kenya twice a year in November (house closed) and late March to the end of May. These generally comprise of clear days punctuated by short heavy rain storms.

Children

Children are most welcome at Laragai House. Babysitting can be arranged upon request and there are two children’s rooms.
