It comprises 26 elegant and spacious cottages ranging from the historical Herbert Baker-designed Rhodes Cottage to beautifully restored farm labourer cottages. The emphasis is on stylish simplicity, combining rustic charm with contemporary comforts.

There are endless activities on offer and you can do as much or as little as you wish. Guests have access to all the historic farm has to offer from sampling award-winning wines to exploring on foot or by bike. Or, simply relax in the comfort of your cottage and enjoy the stunning surroundings.

Location and getting there

The estate is located in Groot Drakenstein close to Franschhoek in South Africa’s Winelands. It is 60 km from Cape Town and the International Airport.

Accommodation

It comprises a collection of cottages ranging from the exclusive and historic Rhodes Cottage built by Sir Herbert Baker and the elegant Werf Cottages to the beautifully restored and contemporary Clarence Cottage and Orchard Cottages. All come with a fully equipped kitchen or kitchenette (in the smaller cottages). Some cottages are located 2 km from the main building where the restaurant and deli are located, so your own transport is required.

Activities

Wine-tasting, cellar tours, nature trails, picnics, mountain biking, running, swimming in dams, horse-riding, trout fishing, fruit-picking, exploring caves. The picturesque towns of Franschhoek and Stellenbosch are 15 minutes away.

Children

Children of all ages are welcome and the 2-bed cottages are ideal for families. Babysitting can be arranged.
