Anavilhanas Jungle Lodge is perhaps the most comfortable and exclusive of the lodges reached from Manaus, the principal gateway to the Brazilian Amazon. Located 2.5 hours from the city, it is set beside the UNESCO-listed Anavilhanas Reserve on the black waters of the Rio Negro, a prime position to observe the region’s diverse flora and fauna. Take boat and canoe trips, jungle walks, spot caiman crocodiles by night, fish for piranhas and visit local caboclos or communities. You may encounter a wide variety of fauna from capuchin monkeys and macaws to Pink River Dolphins and sloths.
There are only 16 cottages and four superior bungalows, all very comfortably set up beneath a thatched canopy overlooking the forest. Air-conditioning, private terrace and hot water come as standard.
For the ultimate Amazon experience, take a private seaplane flight to appreciate the size of the Anavilhanas Archipelago with its canals, islands and oxbow lakes and of course the wider region.
Lightfoot Travel provides tailor-made itineraries that include daily tours and excursions, restaurant recommendations and bookings, and can incorporate Amazon into a greater Brazil & Latin America holiday. Take a look at Classic Brazil as an example of a bespoke itinerary that we can create for you.
