Epicurean Journey of New South Wales

New South Wales produces some of Australia’s finest wines and food. On this epicurean journey we will take you to the region’s best vineyards, introduce you to the wine makers and pair it with incredible local produce. We will also recommend the best restaurants to visit, both in Sydney and nearby Hunter Valley.

Day 1: Sydney

Flying with our preferred airline partner Qantas, you will arrive into Sydney in the morning and be met by a Lightfoot Travel representative and transferred to your hotel. Spend the morning relaxing after your flight. You will then be met by your guide and taken around some of Sydney’s highlights, including the historic Rocks precinct, the Opera House, the magnificent Botanical Gardens. Continue through Woolloomooloo, Kings Cross and into Rushcutters bay where you will have lunch at the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, Australia’s premier yacht club and home to what is considered yachting’s ‘Everest’ – the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.

From here continue on to Sydney’s most famous beach, Bondi Beach, where you will have some time to soak up the atmosphere of this beachside Mecca.

End your day with a private cruise around Sydney Harbour and a delicious afternoon tea onboard.

Day 2: Hunter Valley - wine tasting

A trip to the fantastic wineries of Hunter Valley is a must for any wine lover. Fuel up en-route with a traditional Aussie breakfast deep in the bush, followed by a glass of Dr Jurd’s Jungle Juice in the historic township of Wollombi.

Your wine tasting begins at Tyrell’s Vineyard’s. Tyrell’s is over 150 years old and has grown to be one of Australia’s largest and most prestigious winemakers. This is the perfect place to delve into the world of wine, and we do exactly this with an insightful and fun tasting and tour.

The next stop is Mount Pleasant to sample some great wines and enjoy lunch overlooking the vineyards, followed by a visit to The Tuscany Wine Estate. This estate is set on 26 hectares of prime Hunter Land Property and is the perfect backdrop for further wine tastings.

Enjoy an afternoon visit to The Hunter Valley Gardens before settling in for the evening.

Afterwards visit Broken Wood, a winery that has recently become one of Australia’s most reputable winemakers. Sticking to its roots, the winery places great pride in its labour intensive approach which ensures the individuality of the wines.

Continue to one of the Hunters most exclusive wineries, Pepper Tree, and then to De Iuliis Winery. Framed by the magnificent Brokenback mountain range, De Iuliis Winery is set on a spectacular property. The wine tasting room is equally striking, with stunning artworks adorning the walls and panoramic windows revealing the beautiful landscaped gardens.

This winery produces quality wines from a sparkling Pinot Chardonnay and desert wine to a Semillon, Verdelho, Shiraz and Merlot. Here you will get more opportunity to sample some of The Hunters premium wines before returning to your hotel for the evening.
