Day 3: A Penguin Parade on Phillip Island

After a morning spent at leisure, you’ll be met by your guide for an outing to Phillip Island. The afternoon and evening will be spent discovering the island’s dramatic landscapes and unique flora and fauna, beginning with a visit to the tiny Churchill Island, a historic working farm where you’ll learn about the lives of the first settlers to this region.

At the Koala Conservation Centre, kids can get up close and personal with the furry little fellas in their natural habitat, and you’ll likely meet some wallabies and echidnas along the way. At the Nobbies, you’ll stroll along the boardwalk with waves crashing along the dramatic coastline. You might even spot a few seals and some penguin nests! If you come in the summer, you’ll have free time in the town of Cowes to walk along the beach, do some shopping, or try the fresh local seafood.

Finally, a trip to Phillip Island isn’t complete without a black tie gala event. Didn’t pack your tux? It’s okay, we’re talking about the Penguin Parade. Your family will be spoilt with unprecedented up-close viewing of the little penguins as they come ashore. And when the gala is done, you’ll return to Melbourne, with visions of penguins dancing in your head.

Go where visitors never get to explore and meet Australia’s most unusual wildlife. Be sure to snap a photo and capture the moment. You’ll never have face time like this again!

In the afternoon the fun continues with a 3-hour easy bike ride around Sydney. Ride with your guide and discover the city’s best highlights like stunning harbour views at Circular Quay, the piers at Walsh Bay, Darling Harbour, Hyde Park, and the Royal Botanic Gardens. There’s no better way to get a quick feel for the city, than the harbour highlights tour!

Day 6: Sail & Surf

Today is all about the water. In the morning, make your way to Campbells Cove, for a sensational 2-hour morning tea cruise. In the afternoon you’ll head to Bondi Beach for a 1.5-hour private surf lesson in the sea. Pop up quicker and catch more waves with extra attention from a dedicated surf coach who will make sure you’re having fun while being challenged, all in a safe environment. If you’re already comfortable on a board, even better – your coach will help you progress, focusing on technique and board control, while bringing out your natural surfing ability.

After a day on the water and in the fresh air, you’ll look forward to retiring back to the hotel for a night of relaxation and rest.

Day 12: Daintree Rainforest Adventure

Today begins with an early start, because the early bird gets the worm, and early travellers get to experience the Daintree Rainforest with almost no one else about. The adventure begins in the Cape Tribulation section of the World Heritage-listed Wet Tropics at the Alexandra Range Lookout for some breathtaking views (the same spot where, back in 1770, Captain Cook experienced his own ‘trials and tribulations’). Get ready to spot cassowaries, forest dragons, and even buff-breasted paradise kingfishers on the rainforest boardwalks and beaches, then zip through the trees on a jungle surfing experience through the canopy.

After a delicious lunch (and ice cream from the Daintree Bio-Dynamic Creamery) it’s time to head to the river for a wildlife cruise. Keep an eye out for crocs, snakes, and eagles, while learning all about the amazing biodiversity in this part of Australia. If weather permits, you’ll stop at the upper Mossman River for a cooling dip in the healing waters. Don’t worry, it’s far away from the croc habitat so you can relax and enjoy the most incredible water in the world.
