The Angkor Wat International Half Marathon in Cambodia has to be one of the most unique and visually stunning races in Asia.

An early morning start set against the backdrop of the Angkor Wat temples, looping your way through the Bayon half-way through the race, and finishing again in front of Angkor – hands down one of our favourite sporting events.

With a half marathon, 10 kilometre, 10 kilometre artificial arm/leg, and 3 kilometre fun run, this is the perfect event for families or groups containing all running abilities. Perhaps even more beautiful than the actual architectural wonders that you run through, are the hundreds of local children that line the route. With arms outstretch for high fives and huge smiles on their faces, this is one of the most memorable aspects of the race.

We love building tailor-made holidays around sporting events, and the setting of this particular race makes our job easy. Add a few days after the race to explore the dozens of temple complexes in the area, staying at one of our handpicked luxury accommodations nearby. Next, head down to Cambodia’s southern coastline for some extra pampering at the private island resort of Song Saa – the ultimate reward for all that physical exertion.

Luxurious Cambodia is just one example of a bespoke itinerary that Lightfoot Travel can create for you.
