There’s one way that you can guarantee that your favourite hangout has the perfect vibe – own it. Some of the UK’s most well-known celebrities are snapping up their own bar. From traditional pubs to chic bars with a private members’ club feel, the stars are ready to welcome you to their bars in 2019.
Owner: Idris Elba
If you’re heading to Elba’s bar at Waldorf Astoria Hilton in London, you don’t need to book a taxi – they will send an Aston Martin to collect you. And try not to be shaken or stirred when you find the A-lister whipping up cocktails behind the bar. Elba promises a live band, guest performances and he may even hit the decks himself. The race car driver, DJ and Hollywood actor knows how to have a good time.
Owners: David Beckham and Guy Ritchie
This Notting Hill bar is about to get a Soho House-style makeover thanks to its new A-list owners – David Beckham and Guy Ritchie. Not much else is known about the changes that they intend to make, but we’re guessing that you’ll be able to order a tipple of Beckham’s Haig Club whisky and a pint of English Lore from the film director’s own microbrewery, the Gritchie Brewing Company.
Owner: James Blunt and Sofia Wellesley
The UK singer and his wife Sofia has given a 17th-century pub in Chelsea an A-list worthy makeover. Long gone are the pork scratchings and drinks served on sticky tables – the historic pub now features a retractable glass roof, leather armchairs and wood panelling.
Owner: Jodie Kidd
If you are travelling to West Sussex, you need to make a stop at supermodel Jodie Kidd’s gastropub. As well as the obligatory Sunday lunch – roast topside of beef and Yorkshire pudding, Kidd serves up an A la Carte menu, Six Course Tasting Menu and a 26-page wine menu. When the temperature rises, Kidd also throws a Beer, Beats & BBQ party in her country beer garden with none other than Ibiza DJ Charlotte Moss behind the decks – it is a supermodel’s pub after all.
