Growing up all over the world thanks to parents in the Foreign Office, travel has always been in Steph’s blood. After living around Europe, Africa and the Caribbean with her family, she decided to travel to Latin America on a gap year after school and it quickly became a favourite desination – so much so that she decided to study Spanish at university so she could spend another year there as part of her course.
A job in travel seemed like the perfect way to continue seeing the world.
At first Steph spent five years working for a tour operator in the UK before moving to Asia where she set up the Latin America department for a luxury tour operator in Singapore. Having never been to Asia before it seemed like a great opportunity to discover a new part of the world and Singapore’s location means she now spends as many weekends as possible exploring new places nearby.
Steph 's Picks
- City: Cape Town - The setting has to be one of the most picturesque in the world, the restaurants and shopping are amazing, and there is so much to do. There aren’t many places where you can climb a mountain in the morning and head to the beach in the afternoon.
- Beach: Caribbean Islands - The beaches here are some of my favourites. Turks & Caicos and Anguilla both have the most beautiful white sand and the clearest turquoise waters. On Anguilla, Scilly Cay is a must – a tiny little sandbank where you spend the day snorkelling with turtles, feasting on freshly barbecued seafood and drinking rum punch.
- Road Trip: Travelling overland around Chilean and Argentine Patagonia - Over a week we stayed at some of the best lodges in the region, trekked on glaciers, went riding with gauchos and hiked in Torres del Paine. Our Jeep even came with a virtual tour guide to make sure we didn’t miss a thing as we were driving!
