Travel Designer Katie discovered her passion for discovery when she moved from her home town of Wellington in New Zealand to Hong Kong to complete her final year of high school. After finishing her studies, she set off to explore Thailand, Europe and the UK, and then moved to Sydney, Australia, for three years. It was while backpacking around western Europe that she decided to pursue a career in travel.
Katie returned to New Zealand and spent four years working at a travel company before transferring to Hong Kong – a move that also gave her the opportunity to discover more of Asia. Visits to Vietnam, where she wandered through the old quarter of Hanoi and kayaked around Halong Bay, satiated her appetite for new experiences.
Today Katie is thrilled to be able to do a job that involves sharing her adventures and building on her travel knowledge. She revels in planning extraordinary trips for her clients that they'll remember forever.
Katie 's Picks
- Hotel: Six Senses Ninh Van Bay - Arriving here by speedboat to the private bay was a thrilling moment! With white sand, clear water and lush forest, I’d definitely landed in paradise. Spending the day just looking out to the horizon was amazing, and the wooden bathtub in my beachfront pool villa is possibly the best place on earth to unwind!
- City: New Orleans - It just has so much history and character, and I loved learning about it from the locals who told me the best place to experience Jazz is not Bourbon Street, but Frenchman Street. I also loved sampling the Beignets at the world famous Café Du Monde.
- Memory: Going on safari in Maasai Mara was incredible - It was Number One on my list of places to visit and it didn't disappoint. From seeing the Big 5 to the magnificent sunsets it was a dream come true. Now Antarctica is next on my next bucket list!
