“Hacienda Sam Jose is a traditional and characterful hacienda with an authentic air. Built in 1888, it’s one of the eldest haciendas in the area, and this is reflected in the décor which comes with dark wood and heavy wooden shutters. The accommodation is charming, and dining under the wraparound veranda is a romantic way to spend an evening.”
Set in tropical gardens and surrounded by woodland and rolling hills, Hacienda San Jose is a restored, colonial-era hacienda around ten minutes from Pereira. Built in 1888, this rural retreat oozes charm, character and authenticity, and offers the perfect base to explore Colombia’s verdant coffee triangle.
The hacienda has eight rooms and suites overlooking the gardens or pool. The en suite rooms are richly decorated with vintage colonial furnishings, colourful textiles, local artworks and artefacts, and family memorabilia, giving it a welcoming ambience.
The dining room serves home-cooked meals that reflect the flavours, colours and diversity of Colombian cuisine, along with some international favourites. Menus vary by season, with meals served into the dining room or under the veranda.
Spend your days exploring coffee plantations, horse riding, and wandering along nature trails. Back at the hotel, laze around the pool and Jacuzzi, join cookery classes, and watch birds flit around the gardens.
