“Kick off your shoes and pad the polished wooden floors of your Ceylon Tea Trails property barefoot, as here you’ll find an absolute home-from-home. While the rooms are all immaculate in this luxury hotel in Sri Lanka, the verandas are our favourite spot here, with their colonial styling and incredible views. The drawing rooms, with cosy fireplaces, board games and books, are also a top spot in which to unwind.”
A trek for two through the hills with the hotel's resident naturalist
Located in the middle of Sri Lanka’s stunning Hill Country, Ceylon Tea Trails offers up four exquisite plantation bungalows. The historic bungalows, originally built for tea estate managers in the days of the Raj, have been restored to provide guests with the unique experience of life on a working tea estate.
Each property is home to four to six rooms. Maintaining a distinct colonial atmosphere, each one boasts authentic wooden furniture and polishings, grand antiques, four-poster beds with sweeping drapes, and chic tapestry rugs.
You set your own pace of life while at Tea Trails: unwind in beautiful gardens, visit a factory for a gentle education in the art of Ceylon Tea, or be bold and spend an adventure-filled day biking, trekking and white-water rafting.
Norwood Bungalow commands views of the Bogawantalawa valley; Tientsin Bungalow has rooms that open onto English gardens; Castlereagh Bungalow features rooms with open fireplaces; and Summerville Bungalow hosts suites which open to private gardens and have access to cosy lounges.
Meals are served on the veranda, dining room, or in the privacy of your room, and - of course - there’s a never-ending supply of Sri Lanka’s finest tea to drink.
