Day 1 Arrival Cochin
Upon arrival at the airport you’ll be met and transferred to your hotel.
After settling in, the remainder of your day will be spent at leisure.
Day 2 Cochin
Start your holiday with a tour of Fort Cochin with your private guide.
Following the fort, you’ll continue to St. Francis Church and the Santa Cruz Cathedral, both of which were built during the Portuguese reign. The Santa Cruz Cathedral is one of eight basilicas in all of India. Your last visit will to be the Dutch Palace.
At night you’ll watch as the actors of the Kathakali Dance have their faces intricately painted, before enjoying a traditional dance performance which tells ancient stories of the Mahabharata and the Ramayana.
Day 3 Cochin – Periyar
After breakfast you will be escorted via a private road to Periyar where you’ll check into your next hotel.
In the afternoon you’ll have the opportunity to tour the spice plantation and learn the history of Kerala’s cuisine. You’ll also tour a tea factory to see how the tea-making process works.
You’ll then be escorted to your next accommodation.
Day 4 Periyar
This morning you’ll meet your guide who’ll show you some great wildlife including birds, butterflies and much more.
Afterwards you’ll meet some Asian elephants. This will be your chance to bathe and feed these gentle giants.
Day 5 Periyar – The Backwaters
As you cruise through the backwaters of Kerala you’ll get to enjoy beautiful scenery and wildlife as well as being able to observe local people going about their day on the river.
Day 6 The Backwaters – Kumarakom
After a night on the houseboat, you’ll disembark and be transported to the Kumarakom Lake Resort.
Enjoy some leisure time, swimming in the infinity pool, getting active on the lake, or being pampered in the spa.
Day 7 Kumarakom
Enjoy a day at leisure at the Kumarakom Lake Resort. Your LightfootTravel Designer can arrange activities to suit your interests, including watersports on the lake, visiting a local bird sanctuary, learning local arts and crafts, or fishing.
Day 8 Departure
Today you’ll be escorted to Cochin Airport for your onward journey.
