“This is a lovely stay with breathtaking views of the Dzhong and the valley. Like the other four Amankora hotels in Bhutan, its style is restrained and the materials are natural. Decorated in muted colours and fabrics, with clean-lined wooden furnishings, it’s incredibly serene and supremely stress-busting. Enjoy your cup of coffee every morning with nothing around you but the mountains and peace.”
Complimentary 30-minute neck, back and shoulder massage
Located in the remote Phobjikha (Gangtey) Valley at the foot of the Black Mountains, Amankora Gangtey offers dramatic valley views. A must for nature lovers, this luxurious lodge sits amid one of Bhutan’s most important wildlife reserves – the winter roast of rare black-necked cranes.
The eight suites follow the style of other Amankora Bhutan properties, with king-size beds, armchairs, a daybed, and glorious valley views. The bathrooms feature terrazzo-clad bathtubs and separate showers and toilets.
Meals are served in the communal dining room, and are a combination of traditional Bhutanese dishes and Western cuisine.
The lodge is one of five Amankora properties dotted throughout the country, offering guests the opportunity to experience the main sights of the Kingdom. Here, guests can visit the black-necked crane visitor centre, explore the 16th century Gangtey Goemba monastery, and trek through the Gangtey valley.
At the end of the day, a hot stone bath in Amankora's ultra-unique and luxurious shed set up in the middle of a field, helps to ease weary muscles.
