Moscow and St Petersburg, Russia's current and former imperial capitals, have played a huge part in Europe's history. Explore what makes each city unique, experiencing the Soviet relics of Moscow and the colorful and elegant imperial architecture of St Petersburg.

Day 1
Arrival Moscow
Upon arrival at the airport, you’ll be escorted by a private car to your accommodation.
The remainder of your day will be spent at leisure. Your Lightfoot Travel Designer will be able to advise on activities prior to departure.

Day 2
Moscow
Start the day with a visit to Lenin's Mausoleum, situated in Red Square. Continue to visit the Moscow Metro, famous for its incredible architecture and often called the Underground Palace. the underground is famous not "infamous"
After lunch, browse for souvenirs at the Izmailovo Flea Market.

Day 3
Moscow
Learn about local traditions by making your own souvenir – a Russian matryoshka doll – before embarking on a guided tour of the Kremlin.
In the evening, learn more about Russia’s vibrant past over dinner with a Russian professor.

Day 4
Moscow
Begin your day with a visit to a Moscow legend – a backstage tour of the Bolshoi Theatre.
Afterwards, enjoy a little leisure time. Your Travel Designer can recommend activities that suit your needs prior to departure.
Round off your Moscow stay with another legend – dinner at Café Pushkin.

Day 5
St Petersburg
Today take the high-speed train to St Petersburg, a journey of 3 and a half hours.
You'll be met on arrival and privately transported to your accommodation where the remainder of your day will be spent at leisure.

Day 6
St Petersburg
Get acquainted with St Petersburg on a guided tour of the city’s main attractions such as Nevsky prospect, Art Square and the Peter & Paul Cathedral where all Russian Tzars (starting from Peter the Great to Nicholas II) are buried.
In the afternoon, explore the stunning art collection and diamond rooms in the Hermitage.

Day 7
St Petersburg
Today you’ll set off with a private guide to compare two very different Russian palaces: the Tsarskoye Selo in Pushkin and Imperial estate at Pavlovsk. The tour also includes a horse carriage ride and lunch in the Podvorye.

Day 8
St Petersburg
Your final day in St Petersburg begins with a trip to the Faberge Museum, followed by a Russian cookery class.
Afterwards, enjoy some leisure time. Your Lightfoot Travel Designer can recommend activities that suit your needs prior to departure.
Indulge in a farewell dinner at Russian Ampir, including a vodka and caviar tasting.

Day 9
Departure
Today you’ll be escorted to the airport for your onward journey.
