Villa d'Este Italian Lakes

Set in 25 acres of enchanting Italian Renaissance gardens on the banks of Lake Como, Villa d’Este is a grand and supremely luxurious 16th century heritage hotel. This former residence of Cardinal Tolomeo Gallio features exquisite Renaissance architecture against the splendor of a bygone era with modern comforts.

Villa d’Este provides 152 rooms and suites, elegantly furnished with antiques, paintings, vintage prints, and sumptuous fabrics. Each features lavish marble bathrooms. Many come with balconies or terraces offering views across Lake Como. Two private villas offer the ultimate Lake Como experience.

Veranda restaurant serves up traditional Italian haute cuisine in a formal setting overlooking the lake and gardens. The hotel is also home to a superb cooking school.

Take a dip in the legendary floating swimming pool as you admire the views; stroll through the gardens; play tennis; go windsurfing; enjoy boating on the lake; or head to the putting green. There are five golf courses nearby. Alternatively, relax with a massage at the spa before a cocktail at the bar.

Why we recommend Villa d'Este

“Villas D’Este is iconic. The world-famous hotel is set romantically on the shores of Lake Como, with 25 acres of immaculate Renaissance gardens, adorned with stunning mosaics and statuary. The elegant La Veranda restaurant, frequented by the aristocracy of Europe, and boasting an unbeatable view, is one of our favourites. However, it’s the hotel’s floating pool which makes this the most enviable location on Lake Como.”
