Solitaire Lodge - New Zealand
Super-relaxing, Solitaire Lodge is the second oldest lodge in New Zealand and offers a luxurious, peaceful retreat overlooking Lake Tarawera. The property boasts a rustic feel which is complemented by modern features and furnishings – the beds are especially comfortable. Dining is a dream, and guests are invited to mingle over apéritifs and canapés before dinner.
Set on a private peninsula on the banks of Lake Tarawera in New Zealand, Solitaire Lodge is an oasis of tranquillity surrounded by native bush. Just 20 minutes’ drive from Rotorua yet free from its sulphuric smell and tourists, it’s the ideal base to explore this iconic New Zealand destination.
There are nine newly refurnished suites within the lodge, each with floor-to-ceiling windows leading to a private balcony or sundeck, and with views over Lake Tarawera and the Tarawera Volcano. Rooms have king-size or twin beds, a comfortable lounge, and en suites with underfloor heating and freestanding tubs.
The lodge is full board, serving hearty breakfasts, light lunches, and multi-course evening meals complemented by fine New Zealand wines. Guests can eat in the dining room or opt for a private meal in their suite.
There’s an array of activities on offer at Solitaire Lodge from hiking, biking, boating and fishing, to experiencing Maori cultural displays, helicopter rides over the lake, and summiting Mount Tarawera.
