In the sleepy town of Dunkeld, The Royal Mail Hotel Victoria is located at the southern edge of the Grampian Mountains National Park, and a three-hour drive north-west of Melbourne.
Initially the property was the town’s post office, then a no-nonsense hotel, then its solitary pub. The site has always been a focal point for the area.
Today the main hotel offers rooms ranging from spacious and simple garden rooms, to well-appointed mountain view suites and snug self-contained cottages. All are smart and spacious, feature all modern amenities, and stay in keeping with the surroundings. The deluxe mountain view rooms boast vistas of Mount Sturgeon and the southern Grampian ranges. The cottages, with their stone floors, fireplaces and big sofas, are perfect for romantic breaks.
Ever-changing and innovative dishes are served in the restaurant. Simpler fare is available in the bar.
