Lombok & Gili Islands
Bali's up-and-coming cousin, Lombok, remains a breath of fresh air for those looking for a quiet beach holiday - tick authentic Lombok off your list before mega-resorts move in.
The island in Indonesia lies 40 miles east of Bali and is easily accessed via a two-hour boat trip or a short flight. The main draws to Lombok are its gleaming white beaches and excellent watersports options. Gin-clear waters and a wealth of colourful fish make for incredible snorkelling, or to up the adventure, we can arrange scuba diving, deep-sea fishing, or even a spear fishing course.
Lightfoot Travel’s favourites include a handpicked selection of luxury private villas all of which have 5 bedrooms or more, such as Sepoi Sepoi, Sira Beach House and Villa Sapi – we’ve had many happy clients come back wishing to return.
The nearby Gili Islands promise scuba-diving a quick speedboat away from its sandy shores which a string of beach bars, resturants and small hotels welcome hundreds every day. The Gilis are made up of three charming little islands: Gili Meno is the smallest and least developed; Gili Air has a relaxed, mellow vibe; and Gili Trawangan has a little more action, with beachside bars and more travellers.
