Aman Summer Palace - Beijing, China
Located away from the hustle and bustle of Beijing’s city centre, Aman Summer Palace is a quiet and hidden-away retreat. Walking into Aman Summer Palace takes you back in time in terms of design, décor and feel. The highlight of your stay will be your visit to the iconic Summer Palace, especially as the hotel shares a secret door with the palace and guests can enter outside of usual visiting hours. Being able to wander through the park without the crowds is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Occupying a peaceful setting outside Beijing in China's sprawling city, Aman Summer Palace is housed in a series of heritage buildings next to the Summer Palace, where guests once stayed while waiting for an audience with the Empress. Set around a labyrinth of courtyards, the resort reflects the architecture and design of the Qing dynasty.
Aman’s 51 guestrooms and suites feature lofty ceilings with wooden beams, Jin clay tiled floors, king-size beds, and palatial bathrooms with freestanding tubs and walk-in showers. The Imperial Suite straddles three pavilions with its own courtyard and private spa room.
The resort has three restaurants serving Cantonese and Imperial cuisine, French-Japanese fusion dishes, and a Western-style grill. There’s also a traditional teahouse and a bar.
One of the gates leading to the 260-year-old UNESCO-listed Summer Palace is on the hotel’s doorstep, while the Great Wall and Temple of Heaven are nearby. There’s plenty to do in resort too - from the subterranean pool and spa to private cinema with daily screenings.
