Much like its sister property Melton Manor, Uplands Homestead offers an exclusive-use safari experience in a thriving wilderness region in South Africa’s Eastern Cape, close to the Garden Route. While Melton Manor offers a more contemporary design, Uplands Homestead offers a cosy, more traditional country farmstead style. It has been carefully restored retaining many original aspects such as wrought iron chandeliers, clawfoot bathtubs, Damask linen and antique mirrors.
Uplands Homestead is a three-bedroom colonial-style house located the Kwandwe Private Game Reserve, a malaria-free reserve on South Africa's Eastern Cape. Located close to the Garden Route, this 1905 farmhouse combines old-world splendor with contemporary comforts and an air of refined elegance.
Offering impeccable service with a private butler, chef, and superb facilities including a pool and contemporary farm-style kitchen, this charming property will appeal to families seeking a unique and private safari experience.
Each of the three spacious and lavish bedrooms at Uplands Homestead have been designed with comfort in mind. Interior décor combines 1820’s Settler style with a fresh and contemporary look. Each suite has a veranda, perfect for relaxing on as you sip a G&T.
Kwandwe is an area rich in cultural and natural heritage and there are endless experiences and adventures to be had, from twice daily game drives to a scenic flight over the Frontier Region.
Location & Getting There
Uplands Homestead is located 160 km east of Port Elizabeth on South Africa’s Eastern Cape close to the Garden Route. It is two hours from Port Elizabeth airport.
It accommodates up to six guests in three spacious and beautifully appointed bedrooms, each one featuring upholstered furnishings, clawfoot bathtubs and antiques.
Day and night game drives, bird watching, bush walks, river safaris, bird watching, rhino tracking, cultural tours and historical walks can all be arranged.
Uplands Homestead is an ideal place for families but it is recommended for those with children aged six and over. Kwandwe is a malaria-free game reserve and there is plenty of space on the homestead for children to run around as well as activities for them to enjoy. Babysitting can be arranged.
