“Not just a hotel, this boutique Edwardian mansion feels more like a private home and is one of Cape Town’s most exclusive properties, offering discreet glamour and seclusion. The views alone are spectacular, thanks to an elevated location overlooking Bantry Bay. The facilities are fantastic – don’t miss the adults-only heated pool on the lower terrace.”
Ellerman House overlooks the Atlantic from Cape Town’s upmarket suburb of Bantry Bay. With just eleven rooms, two suites and a five-room villa, this is an intimate hotel occupying a former stately home. Lovely views sweep across as far as Robben Island from its vantage point high up on the slopes of Lion’s Head mountain.
The hotel retains the feel of an elegant colonial mansion, complete with an impressive art collection. Guests have access to a 24-hour pantry, stocked with homemade treats and snacks, while the hotel’s sommelier and chef await your instructions as to how they can cater to your needs. Organic local produce dominates the daily-changing restaurant menu, with an emphasis on modern European-style cuisine.
The tiered gardens and the solar-heated lap pool overlook the sea, while the gym boasts motivating floor-to-ceiling windows. The Ellerman House Spa has three treatment rooms, a sauna and steam room.
