Day 1
Arrival in Kilimanjaro

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you’ll be escorted by car to your hotel. You’ll receive a trek briefing from your tour leader, and enjoy some rest and relaxation before setting off.

Day 2

Day 2
Londorossi Gate – Big Tree Camp

Today, you’ll start your climb of Mount Kilimanjaro along the Lemosho Trail, starting at the Londorossi Gate. The trek begins in dense, misty rainforest, where you might spot black and white Colobus monkeys. Keep your eyes peeled for elephants and buffalo as you climb the steep route to Big Tree Camp.

Day 3

Day 3
Big Tree Camp – Shira II Camp

Leave the rainforest and trek over moorland and heath. There’s a gradual climb as you ascend over the Shira Plateau, noting the volcanic rock formations. From here you can view some of the glaciers on the western side of the mountain, as you head towards Shira II Camp.

Day 4

Day 4
Shira II Camp – Barranco Camp

Today you’ll move into a different climatic zone as you break the 4,000m barrier. Your high point for the day will be the Lava Tower (4,640m), a volcanic plug leftover from when Kilimanjaro was an active volcano.

Descend sharply in the Great Barranco Valley where you’ll camp for the night.

Day 5

Day 5
Barranco Camp – Karanga Camp

At the start of the day continue the descent into the Great Barranco Valley, before reaching one of the most exciting sections of the climb: the Great Barranco Wall. Your guide will help you find the best route to climb this steep wall of rock, formed by an ancient landslide.

Once over, trek through valleys to the Karanga Camp.

Day 6

Day 6
Karanga Camp – Barafu Camp

Today you’ll climb at a steady pace to the Barafu Camp (4,640m), which you should reach by lunch or early afternoon. Take the rest of the afternoon to rest in preparation for your summit attempt tomorrow.

Day 7

Day 7
Barafu Camp – Uhuru Peak – Millennium Camp

It’s summit day! You’ll be woken in the early hours for the climb to the summit of Kilimanjaro – Uhuru Peak (5,895m).

The high altitude means you can’t stay there for long, so you’ll take photos, admire the view, then begin your descent. This will be much quicker, as you aim for Millennium Camp.

Day 8

Day 8
Millennium Camp – Mweka Gate

Your final day on the mountain involves a gentle trek down towards the Mweka Gate, passing through lush rainforest. Here you’ll receive your certificate and say goodbye to the local porters and guides that helped you on your climb.

You’ll be transferred back to your hotel for a celebration of your achievement.
