“A fusion of Moroccan and Swahili design, Sasaab is a welcoming lodge accommodating up to 18 guests at a time so there’s a real sense of personal service. The main swimming pool is built into the cliff-side so guests receive show-stopping views of the landscape as they cool off. Dining outside here is a dream, especially when Kenyan skies put on a show.”
Set in Kenya’s Northern Frontier, Sasaab is an intimate safari lodge close to Samburu and Buffalo Springs National Reserves. A blend of Moroccan and Swahili design, this luxury lodge is in a wildlife-rich area with mesmerising views across the Laikipia Plateau and Mount Kenya.
The nine spacious, Moroccan-style rooms feature four-poster beds swathed in mosquito netting, lofty ceilings, open-air bathrooms, and open-sides leading to a veranda with private plunge pool and far-reaching views.
All meals are included, featuring local ingredients with produce from their vegetable garden. Guests dine outside, though there are options for private dining or bush picnics. There is also a spa.
Activities include game drives in Samburu and Buffalo Springs, where wildlife can be seen including rare species like the Grevy’s zebra. Enjoy guided bush walks, camel rides, or go fly camping. Back at camp, refresh with a dip in the pool while watching elephants drink at the river.
