Whether your mind goes to powdery Caribbean beaches, cigars or the old-world charm of Havana, there’s no doubt that Cuba is an evocative place. Historically complicated, culturally rich and surprising at every turn, Cuba is a country of an endless interest provided you jump in with both feet.
Colourful Havana is a city like no other – part Caribbean, part South American, with a Spanish colonial feel, but unmistakably Cuban. Antiquated Chevrolets roll down long avenues past grand mobster-funded1950s hotels. Revolutionary murals adorn tower blocks, contrasting against colonial palaces. But more than anything, it’s the atmosphere that makes Havana so unique.
Wander the cobbled streets and plazas of the Unesco-listed old quarter and you’ll soon come to realise that Havana is the most vibrant of all Caribbean cities, alive with art and music and drama. Its sultry nightlife is legendary, from mojitos and cigars, to pulsing afrobeat, jazz and salsa clubs.
To take in an altogether different Cuba on your luxury tour, head inland to the vast red valleys and rural beauty surrounding Vinales. Famous for Cuba’s premier export, cigars, here the tobacco fields are tilled and dried among breathtaking landscapes and ancient rock formations.
Cuba’s Caribbean coastline is an idyllic mirage of warm, clear waters and a pristine golden coastline. Off the north coast of the mainland are the Cayos, a group of tiny islands filled with thriving ecosystems, lush tropical terrain and renowned luxury resorts. The palm-lined beaches have powder-soft white sand dotted, while the Caribbean waters provide world-class diving and sailing.
The Cayos are a haven for wildlife, with a thick jungle set back from the beaches, criss-crossed with nature trails. Discover squadrons of pink flamingos hanging out at turquoise lagoons, and schools of flashy tropical fish swimming about the vibrant coral reefs.
The Lightfoot team loves Cuba and are well-traveled throughout the island. We’ll use our experience and knowledge to help design a perfect tailor-made luxury tour for you!
