Kite Festival of Sumpango, Guatemala

Get swept away by the party atmosphere when hundreds of gigantic colourful kites take to the skies to celebrate the Day of the Dead on 1 November. Villagers throughout the area spend months constructing and painting their high flying creations that will be judged on looks and how long they can fly for. However, whether they win or lose, every one gets to celebrate with food, music and plenty of dancing.
