Kangetsuen

Hokkaido

Tokachigawa Hot Spring is renowned throughout Japan for its rare moor water with healing properties. Set next to the Tokachigawa River in the heart of Hokkaido’s Tokachi Plains, Kangetsuen is a traditional ryokan with stunning river views and a selection of onsen using this unique moor water.

Accommodation is simple and minimalist, with a choice between Japanese-style rooms with tatami mats and futon bedding, or Western-style rooms with twin beds. The Observation Floor has a number of special room categories, including rooms with private open-air baths and river views.

Nire-no-Mori is a buffet-style restaurant serving Japanese-Western breakfasts and dinners, with great views down the river. Alternatively dine at Senka or Ichii, which offer multi-course kaiseki dishes made from fresh produce.

The Tokachigaoka observation deck is a few minutes walk from the hotel, offering spectacular views. Guests can also experience banei horseracing, see wild swans gather in winter, go wine tasting at Ikeda Wine Castle, and bathe in the hot springs.
