Verity grew up in London and her fascination for travel began aged 15 when she went backpacking in Peru, trekking the Inca trail and camping in the Amazon. After studying art history at university, she combined her passion for culture and escape together by joining a UK travel company. Here, she created their escorted cultural tours, sending clients to experience the scenes of Canaletto on the grand canal in Venice, witness the architecture of the Greek Temples in Sicily, and walk in the footsteps of Dutch 17th century artists in the Netherlands.

A love of Africa then led Verity to work for The Bushcamp Company in South Luangwa, Zambia. Managing the luxury camps provided her with an authentic wilderness experience and a huge insight into the animal kingdom.

For the past eight years, Verity has been planning and leading tours to Europe and southeast Asia. Throughout her time, she’s been lucky enough to watch the sunset over the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, go on a private visit to San Marco’s in Venice, visit Piet Oudolf’s garden at his home in the Netherlands, and take a Vietnamese cooking class in Hoi An with Ms Vy.

When she’s not advising clients on luxury travel and devising personalised itineraries, you’ll find Verity in her garden.

Verity 's Picks

  • City: Lisbon, Portugal - I was blown away by the design culture of Lisbon and the restaurants, and I can’t wait to return to further explore the Douro Valley. Also, I’m obsessed with Sicily for its multi-layered history as a crossroads of the Mediterranean.
  • Restaurant: Cevicheria in Lisbon – Not just for the massive octopus that looms from the ceiling! The Ceviche is delicious, and a huge Gin & Tonic is perfect to wash it down. It’s a great place to spend the night after a day of shopping in the Chiado.
  • Memory: Barcelona, Spain - This city just has it all. The beach, world-class museums, Gaudi’s jaw-dropping architecture and fabulous tapas. A weekend there isn’t enough, especially if you’re staying at the Mandarin Oriental.
