We got back from our honeymoon last night and we just wanted to say thank you for putting together such an amazing trip for us! It really was a trip of a lifetime, we absolutely loved Canada and all of the activities on offer. Here’s a few bits we put together…
In terms of hotels the majority we great for what we needed but there were a few stand outs for us:
Moraine Lake Lodge– amazing location, cabin was stunning and service was brilliant, our favorite
Nita Lake Lodge– we liked that the hotel wasn’t right in whistler village, room was amazing and staff were excellent, good facilities
Opus Vancouver– great boutique hotel, we rented their bikes for a few hours free of charge, knowledgable and friendly staff and great location in the heart of the city
The Cove Lakeside Resort– we liked that it had a self catering option, loved the balcony and view over the resort, perfect location on the lake with lots of water sports available. The driving information provided was actually incorrect for this hotel and we ended up on a massive detour but it was a stunning drive along the coast so we didn’t mind too much
Buffalo Mountain Lodge– loved the room and location (we didn’t actually eat at the hotel but went out and explored Banff town)
Emerald Lake Lodge– awesome cabin, I liked that it was older style (fireplace, no tv or Internet), location was great right on the lake, staff we helpful and friendly
Activity wise we managed to do something petty much everyday we were there. Whether we were in a city or out in the wilderness, there’s just such a range- we loved exploring Granville Island market and Gastown in Vancouver, renting bikes, hiking, ATVs and water sports. There was just so much to choose from it really was the perfect trip! Here are a few more highlights: Zip Trek (Whistler), Mountain Biking, Lake Louise Hikes, Paddleboarding/Water Skiing (Okanagan), ATVs (Whistler), Rodeo (Calgary)
We were really well looked after everywhere we stayed, most hotels gave us a nice bottle of wine or chocolates with a note which was a lovely touch and the folder which awaited us at the start of our holiday was incredible and made our life so easy getting from A to B.
Of the 3 weeks away I think we only had one thing we were disappointed with and it was The Fairmont Jasper. We were so impressed when we pulled up as it really is an amazing resort but once we checked in we were quite shocked at how old the room was, little things didn’t work like our light switches and the bathroom fan sounded like an airplane was taking off. Even around the resort we found you had to pay quite a lot for everything on top of the room rate (Internet/breakfast/activities) and compared to the other places we had stayed the staff in the cafe/restaurant were slow and seemed like you were a bit of an inconvenience. We understand that this wasn’t your fault or anything you could have done but we thought it would be helpful for other clients of yours looking at staying there you may consider pointing them in another direction.
Once again we can’t thank you enough for planning such an amazing honeymoon for us, we will definitely keep you in mind when we plan other holidays in the future!
