Luang Prabang, Laos
The Luang Say Cruise is a fascinating two day journey through remote mountainous stretches of the Mekong River between the Northern Thai border and World Heritage Site Luang Prabang, on board a magnificent Pak Ou boat, a 34-metre converted rice barge, which has been built for comfort and safety.
The boat accommodates up to 40 people in very comfortable surroundings. There is a spacious open-air deck, a bar and two toilets. A buffet lunch featuring local delicacies is served on board as you cruise down the river.
Relax on deck and get a glimpse of traditional Laotian life as you pass through jungle, mountains and farmland. You can also visit remote riverside hill-tribe villages, ancient Buddhist temples and other fascinating sights. A French and English-speaking guide will be on hand to answer any questions.
The cruise stops overnight at Luang Say Lodge in Laos for a charming and tranquil riverside stay – a perfect romantic interlude in this unspoiled wilderness setting.
The Luang Say Cruise has three boats and also operates in reverse, starting off from Luang Prabang to give you greater flexibility. Children are welcome on board but there are no specific facilities for them.
Lightfoot Travel provides tailor-made itineraries that include daily tours and excursions, restaurant recommendations and bookings, and can incorporate Luang Prabang into a greater Laos holiday.
