Solio Game Conservancy, Kenya
Nestled in a valley between Mount Kenya and Aberdare Mountains lies Solio Lodge. Located within a private wildlife sanctuary, Solio Lodge opened its doors in 2010 and to date remains the only accommodation within the 45,000-acre Solio Game Reserve, teeming with wildlife. The lodge is renowned for being the most successful private rhino breeding reserve in Kenya and it is normal to see as many as 40 at a time!
The intimate property has five large thatched cottages that are each individually decorated and offer large glass windows to easily admire the incredible landscape of rolling hills and Mount Kenya.
The service at Solio Lodge is impeccable and the staff will cater to your every whim. The dining is quite an affair with superb home-cooked dishes with ingredients coming straight from the garden.
There is countless wildlife to observe in the Solio Game Reserve, which includes black and white rhinoceros, leopard, lion, cheetah, buffalo, zebra, giraffe, warthog and much more.
Solio Lodge is also very much involved in creating a lasting impact in its community and is a member of Pack for a Purpose, which encourages travellers to bring supplies to school or medical clinics in the area, making a priceless impact in the lives of local children and families.
