Luang Prabang

The former residence of Prince Soupha-nouvong, located in the heart of Luang Prabang, is now home to the Satri House, a family owned property inspired by Lao culture with a touch of colonial French. The Red Prince, as he was known, turned first President of Lao People’s Democratic Republic grew up there as a boy, and the property is fit for royalty.

Refurbished in 2002, and serving as a hotel ever since, the charming Satri House is a truly relaxing environment where guests are invited to unwind, sit back and watch the everyday life of locals from their balcony or indulge by one of the hotel’s two pools.

The complex is made up of different buildings, between which the beautifully manicured gardens and courtyards have scattered tables, chairs and sun loungers, another invitation to relax.

Every room and suite have four-poster beds and are furnished with superior crafted wood furniture, antique arts, oversized balconies and spacious bathrooms, making for a truly comfortable stay.

Dining at Satri House is also a delightful experience; the cuisine consists of local Laotian delicacies and a combination of Western and Asian specialties.

After a long day of intense visiting of the charismatic city of Luang Prabang, nothing is more rewarding and soothing than cooling off in the spa’s plunge pool, followed by a revitalizing massage.

Satri House Testimonials

Dear Elgin,

We have had a wonderful holiday.

Our man in Cambodia (who we called James Bond – his name was something like Bondi) was excellent and very efficient.

Raffles, Angkor Thom, Wat, Bayon, were good fun – but the star of Cambodia was our fantastic day on the Tonle Sap River seeing all the birds in the sanctuary – absolutely wonderful and our guide, Kuntita, was equally perfect.

Laos – where our guide, Oan, was superb and quite a character.

Satri House was ideal and good fun. The waterfall, tour round the villages, night market, restaurants (especially Blue Lagoon) we’re very good fun, but the star of the show was our two day trip up the Mekong.

We’ve had huge fun, lots of laughs and you were much talked about.

With best wishes,

AS
