Sabi Sabi Game Reserve, South Africa

Since 1979 Sabi Sabi has hosted visitors from all over the world, drawn to this unique area by the promise of the safari experience of a lifetime. Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve, situated in the world-renowned 65000 hectare Sabi Sand Wildtuin in the South-Western section of the Kruger National Park, is a wildlife oasis, where you can observe at close quarters the age-old relationship between predators and their prey.

Earth Lodge is setting new standards in luxury amongst South African safari lodges. Sculpted into a slope of the earth, almost invisible in the landscape, the lodge uses texture, light and space to present a lodge like no other. It has been described as the most environmentally sensitive lodge in Africa. Comprised of 13 ultra-luxurious suites, each suite features individualy designed furniture, private plunge pools, en-suite glass fronted bathrooms and indoor and outdoor showers.

And indoor/outdoor dining area overlooks a waterhole and unending bushveld. The lodge features a secluded library, art gallery, meditation garden, and an underground wine cellar with a collectiono of over 6,000 bottles of rare wines – the venue for an unforgettable dining experience. The highlight of any trip to the Greater Kruger area is undoubtedly the safari experience. Big game abound and roams freely throughout this pristine part of the ancient African continent, and the diverse habitat is home to spectacular wildlife including the Big 5 – lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo and elephant – as well as cheetah, wild dog and some 200 other animal species indigenous to the area.

  • Location: 1-hour flight from O.R. Tambo International Airport (Johannesburg) directly to the Sabi Sabi airstrip, scenic 5-hour chauffeured or self-drive from Johannesburg.
  • Accomodation: 13 suites.
  • Facilities: Children’s center (EleFun), library, full-bar facilities, meeting facilities, wifi, wine cellar, swimming pool.
  • Activities: Shagaan community tours, stargazing, photographic safaris, walking safaris.
  • Weather: Best visited May – October although this time of year is cold in the evenings and mornings. The months from October to March can get very hot with more rain making the bush denser so game is tricker to see.
  • Children: Welcome.
