Fans of the fashionista face of Rome and lovers of its designer boutiques should make Portrait Suites their home when in the city. Part of the Salvatore Ferragamo empire, and occupying the upper floors of the designer’s Via Condotti store, this supremely stylish boutique bolthole is more of a townhouse than a hotel.
The hotel is littered with art, memorabilia and photography showcasing Ferragamo’s creations and his most famous clients, and the entire place is dedicated to one of the founding fathers of Italian style.
Portrait Suites has just 14 rooms, spread over six floors and divided into four types; Portrait Studios, Deluxe Studios, and then the Via Condotti and Penthouse Suites. A few overlook the inner courtyard but most face Via Condotti or Via Bocca di Leone – don’t worry about street noise as the double glazing, along with everything else, is top of the range. Michele Bonan (JK Place Firenze and Capri, among many others) is responsible for the rooms’ design, and each is styled differently, but equally beautifully.
There is no restaurant at Portrait Suites, but an extravagant breakfast is served either in your room or on the rooftop terrace, with its views over Trinità del Monti. Each room has its own kitchenette with dishwasher, mini bar and microwave, and you can also order in meals to be delivered to your room from a nearby restaurant. Plus of course you are in the heart of Rome’s most sophisticated quarter, and surrounded by restaurants and caffès.
The roof terrace at Portrait Suites has a lounge bar from which you can help yourself on an honesty bar basis, or can be served by staff if you prefer.
Ask the Portrait Suites concierge and the Lifestyle Team for advice and exclusive access to Rome’s most sought-after restaurants, personal shoppers or concert and football tickets.
