Just six kilometres from the historic town of Monopoli, nestled among 30 hectares of olive groves and with sweeping views to the sea, Masseria Petrarolo is a haven of elegance in the Italian countryside. The 17th century farmhouse was thoughtfully refitted as a stately luxury villa and expertly designed by Alexander Waterworth Interiors, the brilliant minds behind Soho House.
The journey from functioning farmhouse to luxury retreat was a celebration of local craftsmanship and classic design. The original stone is combined with contemporary elements, creating comfortable spaces with a rough luxe feel. The unexpected mix can be seen throughout the exquisite eight-bedroom villa, from its rustic-meets-modern kitchens and inspiring living spaces, to the stunning en-suite bedrooms, complete with grand vaulted ceilings and private terraces overlooking the sea.
The villas once-strategic vantage point (originally built to protect the villages from North African invaders) offers sweeping views of ancient olive groves and the captivating Adriatic Sea. On site there is a wine room, a citrus grove, a hammam, and two outdoor pools where you can watch the fantastic sunset. Nearby, guests will discover the richness of Puglia in the laneways of Monopoli, on the beaches of Capitolo, or by simply exploring the protected olive groves that surround the property. Inside and out, morning to night, a stay at Masseria Petrarolo is truly a taste of la dolce vita.
