Sabi Sand Game Reserve, Kruger National Park
The family-owned Lion Sands Game Reserve in the Sabi Sands is home to five superb lodges on the banks of the Sabie River in the Greater Kruger region, South Africa. Of these, Ivory Lodge is the most luxurious.
Each of the six villas at Ivory Lodge has a private infinity plunge pool, indoor and outdoor showers, and air conditioning and open fireplaces to cover all extremes of daytime and evening temperature and to ensure that you are always supremely comfortable.
For additional privacy and superb views, Villa Six is probably the one to go for, as it is furthest from the Reception, Main Lodge and ‘boma’, and is at the end of the walkway alongside the Sabie River. Alternatively, for the ultimate in adventure, opt for a night in one of the three tree houses.
Meals at Ivory Lodge are usually served on the Main Lodge’s wooden viewing deck, with private dining offered in your villa, a fireside option by the ‘boma’, and picnics arranged in the bush, too. A telescope is available for stargazing and wildlife spotting, although it won’t always be necessary, such are the superb viewing opportunities in the Lion Sands Reserve.
Children over the age of 10 are welcome and an extra bed will be provided. It may be worth noting that once your children reach the age of 15, they are charged the full adult price, whereas from 10 to 15 years, they can stay at 50% of the adult rate.
