Perched on the cliffs between Nice and Monaco, overlooking the Mediterranean from the medieval village of Eze, in South France, the Château de La Chèvre d’Or is heaven for foodies, and paradise for those looking to escape city life and enjoy spectacular sea views.
Located in a stone castle and several refurbished houses scattered throughout the village, the hotel’s 30 rooms and seven suites are all entirely different. Décor ranges from minimalist to cosy and traditional, and views vary from village to gardens or, in the case of deluxe rooms, the sea. However, all bathrooms have a Jacuzzi and all rooms are spacious, comfortable and extremely well-appointed.
As you swim in the Château de La Chèvre d’Or’s heated outdoor pool or wander the extensive gardens and terraces, you’ll be able to soak in the views of Cap Ferrat and the sparkling coastline of the Côte d’Azur. Eze itself is exceedingly picturesque, with its cobbled streets and medieval ruins, and well worth an evening stroll or two.
Considered an institution amongst the eating establishments of the French Riviera, Le Château de la Chèvre d’Or has four restaurants. Its gourmet option ‘La Chèvre d’Or’ has two Michelin stars, and there are three further delights to choose from, each with its own terrace from which to enjoy the panoramic coastline views. Eden is only open for dinner, and is the ideal spot for romantic al fresco dining, while Les Remparts serves an à la carte lunch menu, and light lunches at Le Café du Jardin are more informal.
