Okavango Delta, Botswana
Meaning paradise in Setswana, Kanana is a sparkling jewel set in the remote inner reaches of the Okavango Delta, overlooking seasonal floodplains.
Nestled in a private concession, amongst fig, palm, ebony and knobthorn trees, Kanana is a traditional safari camp hosting 8 spacious, twin-bedded East African styled tents with en-suite bathrooms. The tents are each set on a raised teak deck, offering stunning vistas across the waterways and surrounding islands.
While game drives in 4×4 vehicles are very popular here, the area is also excellent for walking and canoeing. The annual flood transforms this dry camp into a true water experience – glide silently through the delta on a Mokoro and experience the bush in its true form, sans man-made intrusions or head out on a small powerboat to enjoy the diversity of species around the camp. Kanana is also one of the few camps within the Delta to have private access to a large heronry where many migratory water birds come to hatch their young during season. Besides the elephant, you’ll also see other game such as impala, lechwe, hippo, crocodile and lion.
