Costa Verde, Brazil

Whilst not strictly on the Costa Verde, Fazenda Catucaba is a superb option for a few days’ country retreat to unwind after a long flight. Around two hours’ drive from the city and the same again from Paraty, Catucaba is a beautifully restored 1850’s former coffee farm, now a delightful boutique property.

The setting is one of untouched Brazil – historic colonial towns, rolling hills, rivers and lagoons, all to be explored on foot, horseback and 4×4. For the more adventurous, zip lining, rafting and rock and tree climbing can all be arranged. The little things can really make a stay whether it’s a delicious picnic beside the lagoon or a romantic wine and cheese experience atop one of the hills at sunset.

The 10 rooms are set in three charming farmhouses close to the main ‘casa’, all beautifully designed with white-washed walls, original features and antiques filling each one. Some come with large fireplaces and huge bathtubs. There are also two villas nearby, perfect for families or groups of friends.

Lightfoot Travel provides tailor-made itineraries that include daily tours and excursions, restaurant recommendations and bookings, and can incorporate Costa Verde into a greater Brazilian holiday. Take a look at Classic Brazil as an example of a bespoke itinerary that we can create for you.
